Crews Patch Up Sinkhole in Falfurrias

FALFURRIAS – Crews patched up a sinkhole in Falfurrias on Tuesday.
It happened under the southbound frontage road along Highway 281.
Crews dug up unfinished pipe, which is believed to be the cause.
The drainage line was never connected. Over the years water flowing through created a sinkhole.
The Texas Department of Transportation released this statement:
When TxDOT crews dug up the area, it was determined that the contractor neglected to connect the pipes due to a telephone utility line. TxDOT reviewed the area and contacted the utility company and was able to remove the line. Repairs are underway.
