Edcouch Elsa High School field house renamed after former head football coach

A trailblazer at Edcouch-Elsa High School was recognized in a Saturday ceremony.

Javier “La Maquina Amarilla” Gutierrez became the first ever Hispanic head football coach and athletic director for Edcouch-Elsa ISD in 1972.

On Saturday, the field house at Edcouch Elsa High School was renamed after him.
