Suspect Wanted after Weapon Stolen from Edinburg Home

Related Story

EDINBURG – Edinburg police are looking for an individual who broke into a home and made off with a semi-automatic weapon and a bike.

The burglary happened Sunday at a home in the area of Mon Mack and West Rogers roads.

Experts say firearm owners should always keep their weapon's serial number.

"A lot of people report their gun stolen, but they don't have a record of their serial number because it's not required to keep it," explains Brian Guerra, owner of Armas de Guerra in Harlingen. "If that person it was stolen from, reports the gun with the serial number, and the gun is found, then it goes into a database of stolen weapons."

Anyone who is a victim of theft or loss of a firearm is urged to report it to local police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives at 1-888-930-9275.

Police say the suspect is facing burglary of habitation charges.

If you think you know who the person is, call Edinburg Crime Stoppers at 956-383-8477.
