TxDOT Campaign Working to Remind Drivers Not to Drink and Drive
WESLACO – The Texas Department of Transportation is urging drivers to "Plan While you Can", a campaign working to reduce drunk driving.
Rebecca Grimes lost her brother, 18-year old Jose Hector Martinez, to a drunk driver back in 1982.
She says that even though it's been 30 years since his death, for her the holidays have never been the same.
TxDOT spokesperson Octavio Saenz says that too many people across the state of Texas choose to make dangerous decisions during the holidays.
Saenz says that choosing to drive drunk can affect more than just the person behind the wheel, but every other driver on the road.
