UTRGV women's soccer travel to Texas A&M Corpus Christi seeking first conference win

UTRGV women's soccer has yet to beat Texas A&M Corpus Christi ever since joining the Southland Conference.
The last time the Vaqueros came out victorious against the Islanders was in 2023 in non-conference play, a three-year drought they hope to end on Thursday afternoon.
"It's always an intense game," junior midfielder Erika Parker said. "There's always more heart playing on both sides."
"It's a brand new team, so it's going to be different," junior forward Rubi Ortiz added.
UTRGV dropped its conference opener at Lamar last Thursday after the Cardinals managed to score the winning goal in the last seconds of the game.
Head coach Nataki Stewart added that the team has learned from that experience is ready to battle for a full 90 minutes.
"The past has no bearing on the game Thursday," Coach Stewart said. "It's our preparation all these next two days and then now it's the execution in vital moments."
The match between UTRGV and Texas A&M Corpus Christi takes place on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Corpus Christi, Texas.
