19-year-old motorcyclist killed in four-vehicle crash near Edinburg
Edinburg, TX (KRGV) — A 19-year-old Edinburg man died following a four-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning after one of the vehicles failed to yield the right of way.
The crash happened around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of 10th and Chapin streets north of Edinburg, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a Ford Escape entered the intersection and failed to yield to a northbound Yamaha motorcycle driven by Dongjun Kim, causing the deadly collision.
The impact of the crash caused the Ford to collide with a GMC Canyon pickup truck that was stopped at the intersection, and the GMC then hit a Cadillac XT5 SUV.
Kim was wearing a helmet, protective jacket, and gloves. He died at the hospital.
Four other people, identified as the occupants of the Ford and GMC vehicles, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, DPS said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
