The Brownsville Police Department is seeking a 16-year-old male accused of stealing a vehicle at gunpoint.

One other individual was arrested in connection with the investigation, according to Brownsville police spokeswoman Investigator Abril Luna.

Police identified Pedro Antonio Sosa as the prime suspect in the theft. Luna said it's believed he's hiding out with friends or family in Matamoros.

The incident occurred on Nov. 22 in the parking lot of a restaurant at the 3200 block of Pablo Kisel Boulevard, Luna said.

Footage obtained by Channel 5 News shows a man who police identify as Sosa walk up to a woman and wave what Luna said was a handgun in his hand. The woman then gives the suspect the keys to her 2024 Lexus vehicle.

"We're hoping to get an arrest soon, we're working with our federal counterparts to assist in this investigation," Luna said.

Police arrested 23-year-old Jariod Raphael Orozco on Nov. 25 on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated robbery in connection with the theft, Luna said.

Sosa is considered armed and dangerous.

Luna said the police department is seeing more teens involved in car thefts.

"They're not exempt from the law, they're still going to get punished, and this is a message to all juveniles — it's not worth it," Luna said.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is urged to contact Brownsville police at 956-548-7000.
