EDINBURG – A number of people who owed back citations to the city of Edinburg are paying up.

The city started the amnesty program last week. It allows those with unpaid citations to pay them off and avoid arrest.

As of Tuesday, the city’s warrant clerk supervisor reports 28 people stopped by to pay off citations totaling more than $7,600.

The amount owed on unpaid citations still stands at around $10 million.

The program will continue until March 2.
