A pastor inappropriately touched a child on multiple occasions at his Edinburg church, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Channel 5 News.

Jorge Ivan Gonzalez Martinez was booked into the Hidalgo County jail on July 28 on four charges of indecency with a child, according to previous reports. The McAllen man is currently out on bond, jail records show.

The arrest affidavit identified Martinez as a pastor at Iglesia Poder Y Gloria Church at 4801 S Business Highway 281 in Edinburg. According to the affidavit, a female juvenile made an outcry to a parent on July 19 that she had been touched inappropriately by Martinez on multiple occasions between March 2025 and April 2025.

All the instances of the alleged incident occurred in the church’s camera room, according to the affidavit.

The child reported to a detective that “Jorge began by giving her hugs, which over time became tighter hugs with body contact,” the affidavit states.

“[She] stated the tighter hugs evolved into him giving kisses on her forehead, cheeks, and lips,” the affidavit said, adding that the child also said the pastor pulled her clothes from her to expose her.

On another occasion, Martinez grabbed the girl's hand and placed it on his genitals over his clothing, according to court documents.

An Edinburg city spokesperson said Martinez’s bond was set at $300,000. Hidalgo County court records indicate that the pastor was released on Aug. 6 on a $70,000 bond after his attorney argued for a bond reduction. 

As part of the conditions of his bond, Martinez was released into an alternative incarceration program and was ordered to not have contact with children, not go to church, and stay 1,000 feet from child safety zones.
