Several law enforcement agencies in Hidalgo County received seven armored vehicles through a $2.4 million grant.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office and the police departments for the cities of Edinburg, Mission and Weslaco were the recipients of the vehicles through the Rio Grande Valley Texas Anti-Gang Grant.

“All of these agencies will share the equipment that we have up here,” McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez said.

McAllen is the site of the headquarters for the RGV Texas Anti-Gang Project, which is made up of a total of 22 law enforcement agencies.
