Husband Charged in Estranged Wife’s Murder
BROWNSVILLE – A 67-year-old man is facing murder charges in the death of his estranged wife.
Authorities arrested Terry Lee Adams at his McAllen home on Ulex Avenue this morning. His arrest was announced during a press conference this afternoon. No bond was set.
Marta Beatriz Adams’ body was found in South Padre Island earlier this month. While she was last seen alive at her estranged husband’s home, investigators haven’t released details on his connection to the case. The victim and suspect were married for 12 years.
"She had some eye surgery and that she had been staying at his house. And they found a pair of sun glasses that usually they give to you when they operate your eyes, because usually they are dark glasses. When she did not respond to calls from the family, they became concerned,” Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said.
Her son-in-law, Monte Eric Jordan, is already facing murder charges.

The 53-year-old’s cause of death hasn’t yet been determined. She was found in the bay area. Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said zip ties bound together her hands and feet, and she was wrapped in rope attached to two 25-pound metal weights in an attempt to keep her underwater. According to the sheriff, her body was in the water for about three to five days before it was found.
An autopsy revealed there wasn’t any water in her lungs.
