Las Lomas among hardest-hit areas as Starr County flooding threat continues
Las Lomas, TX (KRGV) — Las Lomas was one of the hardest-hit areas Friday night as several inches of rain fell in just a matter of hours.
Channel 5 News's First Warn 5 weather team said between five and six inches of rain fell in Las Lomas. Doppler radar estimated nearly eight inches in the ranchlands just northwest of the area.
The heavy rain has left the ground saturated, meaning any additional rainfall could lead to flooding. Water is still remaining in parts of the area.
More rain is expected throughout the weekend. Residents are being urged to remain alert, especially in low-lying areas.
Some communities in Starr County are also offering sandbags to help residents prepare for additional rain.
