Mercedes city manager submits resignation from position
Mercedes City Manager Alberto Perez has submitted his resignation from his position, the city announced.
Perez served as city manager and worked with city leadership and staff on projects aimed at strengthening city operations and supporting the growth of Mercedes. The city credited him with implementing progressive systems and building local, regional and international partnerships.
Mayor Oscar Montoya pointed to the fiscal steadiness and growth seen during Perez's time in the role.
"Mr. Perez has been a valuable component to the growth of Mercedes and his participation with the community is sincerely appreciated during his time here," Mayor Oscar Montoya said. "The city remains committed to economic development and pursuing projects for the Queen City during this transition. I assure you that Mercedes is well-positioned with a continuity of government plan and there will be no disruption to services, investments or economic growth."
The city commission is scheduled to meet on Aug. 18 to discuss the city manager contract.
