BROWNSVILLE – A national network is in need of volunteers to watch for rainfall, snowfall and hail in their area and report it.

The network, Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network, says observations are used to monitor drought conditions, verify radar precipitation estimates and help researchers and meteorologists.

All volunteers of any age group and any location are welcome. After you register on the collaborative website, you can buy a rain gauge and start reporting.
