HIDALGO - The future of the Valley's indoor football team is in question. At least for the moment.

Wednesday afternoon, State Farm Hidalgo Arena announced the Dorados had ended their lease agreement with the arena and football operations had been suspended.

Wednesday night, the team's new owner Mindy Garza told CHANNEL 5 Sports, she's making every effort to keep the Dorados alive in the Valley.

The first step is trying to find a new home. Something Garza says is already in the works.

As part of the team's change in ownership, assistant coach Steven Jondreau is replacing head coach Bennie King as the franchise moves forward in an effort to continue their season in the International Arena Football League.

Five games into their 10-game schedule, the Dorados are 3-2.

Garza says an update should be coming in the next few days.
