The coronavirus cases continue to rise, making an impact on the Lone Star State.

Although Texas continues to open, some residents in the Rio Grande Valley are trying to limit exposure, but going to the grocery store is a necessity that cannot be avoided.

Three days ago, a petition at Change.org was started to get H-E-B to require shoppers to wear a face covering inside. As of Tuesday night, it had more than 31,700 signatures.

The grocer’s senior manager of public affairs sent a statement, reading in part:

“While H-E-B will not deny entry, we request all customers wear a mask or face covering in our stores to protect our Partners and their fellow neighbors. Masks are a proven way to slow the spread of the coronavirus and H-E-B requests the use of masks in our stores.”
