Public Invited to Participate in Natural Disaster Preparation Meeting

RIO GRANDE CITY – Multiple Starr County jurisdictions are inviting the public to attend a meeting Tuesday to discuss the development of a plan to better prepare the community for a natural disaster.

The meeting is part of the second phase of 10 in the Starr County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan. 

The plan includes Starr County, the city of Escobares, the city of Rio Grande City, the city of Roma and the Roma Independent School District.

The community's input from today's meeting will be considered while conducting a risk assessment and strategic planning, which is required by FEMA.

The meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. at the Escobares Community Center located on 4829 Old Highway 83.
