The owner of a Weslaco hardware store is teaming up with police to help track a theft suspect down.

A man was seen at Ted's Borderland Hardware on Sunday getting away with a $200 power tool.

The impact of the loss goes beyond that for this family owned business. 

“If we lose one tool, we're going to have to sell that same tool 10, 15 times before we get our money back out of it, so you're stealing food off the table for our family and our employees,” Ted’s Borderland Hardware Chief Financial Officer Hayden Ellis said. 

Ellis said his family has invested in security – with cameras outdoors - monitoring systems at cash registers, and more than a dozen other cameras inside. They're now planning to invest in a cage to protect all of their power tools in an effort to keep this from happening again.
