Hidalgo County conducts voting machine testing ahead of November midterms
Hidalgo County tested its voting machines ahead of the November midterm elections.
This was the only testing session scheduled before the election. The test checked candidate names, spellings, race types, and vote counts to make sure every machine is working correctly.
Hidalgo County Elections Administrator Hilda Salinas said if a machine fails, there is still time to fix it.
"There are processes and procedures in place, and if something doesn't look right, of course this is the time that our office is able to work and make any changes to make sure that everything is ready to go," Salinas said.
The county will have 32 early voting locations and 69 polling sites on Election Day. All locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Election Day is Nov. 3, 2026.
