UPDATE: On Wednesday, Oct. 7, the city of Lyford announced the boil water notice was rescinded.

Previous version of this story below:

Lyford, TX (KRGV) — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Lyford public water system to notify customers to boil their water after a main waterline break caused the system to lose pressure.

City crews have worked nonstop on repairs and the city issued a boil water notice for all residents after the pressure dropped.

The cause of the break is under review and the city will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Residents should bring water to a vigorous rolling boil for two minutes before drinking it or using it for consumption. They can also buy bottled water or use another suitable source.

Water may return slowly in some areas while water towers refill. The boil water notice will stay in effect until testing confirms the water meets TCEQ standards.

For more information, please contact city hall at 956-347-3512.
