Brownsville advances moratorium on data centers
Brownsville, TX (KRGV) — Brownsville held its third public hearing Wednesday on a proposed 90-day moratorium that will pause the acceptance and processing of new data center applications.
It was the last of three public hearings on the proposal. The pause would give the city time to develop rules and regulations for data centers setting up in the area.
City commissioners now have to vote on whether to move forward with the moratorium. If it passes, the final vote will happen Nov. 3, 2026.
