HARLINGEN – A local veteran says he wants technological improvement to access his medical records.

Simon Muniz served in the U.S. Army in the 1960s.

Muniz says he is staying on top of his Veteran Affairs health records and making sure he is getting the care he needs.

He says he believes mobile phones could make the process to getting healthcare records easier.

Hugo Martinez, a spokesperson for the VA in Harlingen says new technology is being put to use for veterans.

“The VA has partnered with Apple to allow our veterans the opportunity to be able to access their medical records through this application," says Martinez.

He says the new deal with Apple means the new app will be available for download within the next six months.
