Valley Man Cancels Cinco de Mayo Plans after Delivery Falls Short
RAYMONDVILLE – A Rio Grande Valley man says he paid hundreds of dollars for concrete, but when it arrived, the load was a little short.
“I like to work outside, always been that way," George Perrez told CHANNEL 5 NEWS.
George Perrez calls his property his never finished master piece – his muse.
A new backyard patio is his latest project.
He tells us his plan was to finish the patio before the holiday, so he and the rest of his family could enjoy it.
"I used to be a truck driver for 23 years so I was never home for holidays but now that I’m working here in Raymondville locally, I can do all that now," Perrez explained.
A few weeks ago, Perrez called Cemex to order some concrete.
He told CHANNEL 5 NEWS that a company representative told him the company wouldn't deliver a load less than five yards to Raymondville.
Perrez decided to enlarge the patio so no concrete would be wasted.
He paid $640 for the load.
"When they got here it wasn't five yards, it was only four yards. That's why it came out like this short," Perrez told CHANNEL 5 NEWS.
Perrez explained the concrete delivered wasn't even enough to fill the size of his original smaller patio design.
"Yes I was mad... Every day, every other day, I call him. He talks to me but he only tells me the supervisor is not there and he can call his supervisor. I asked him one time give me the number to supervisor he said I can’t do that," Perrez said.
So we decided to head to Cemex to get answers.
We found the supervisor in his office. He declined to comment.
Perrez said because of the situation, he's decided to cancel his Cinco de Mayo plans.
After we left Cemex, Perrez said he finally received a call from the supervisor.
He told CHANNEL 5 NEWS the supervisor agreed to send two more yards of concrete tomorrow morning.
