NEAR HIDALGO –Valley View Independent School District students tested out new metal detectors installed on campus on Friday.

The security measure was put in place following a false threat targeting a school called Valley View High School in California. 

Local law enforcement determined the threat wasn’t directed to our area.

The school district’s superintendent says even though the threat wasn’t serious, the board of directors felt the need to tighten up security at all campuses.
