WESLACO – A 71-year-old man wants to know if the city of Weslaco will help him recover from the floods.

Arturo Loy recalls when high waters along his home on Pike Boulevard turned into a lake on late June.

He inherited the house 30 years ago when his mother passed away; all that had sentimental value to him was lost.

Loy says he wants to know if Weslaco officials can do anything to help him.

“Something needs to be done. You got all these drainage holes for the water to go away and it doesn’t go away,” he says.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey learned the city continues to check up on nearby drainage systems to protect homeowners.

City officials also encourage residents to call the Federal Emergency Management Agency at 1-800-621-3362 to apply for assistance.
