Catholic Charities Aiding Reunited Families
SAN JUAN – Families already reunited by the federal government are getting some help from Catholic Charities in San Juan.
Officials tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS the reunifications started when the government reached out to the U.S. Conference of Bishops.
The organization then began helping a group of families on July 13.
Many of the families say they were brought back together at the Port Isabel detention facility, the same place they were separated.
The Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan Del Valle informed they’ve been taking in about 300 people a day. They say they’re going to keep helping the families as they continue arriving.
