Local Congressman Invites Trump to Visit RGV
WESLACO – U.S. Congressman Vicente Gonzalez sent a letter to President Donald Trump inviting him to the Rio Grande Valley.
The letter was made public on the congressman’s Facebook page.
Gonzalez said he would like to discuss NAFTA, border security and other issues related to U.S.-Mexico relations.
The president has vowed to redo the NAFTA deal and is proposing adding a 20 percent tax on Mexican imports to pay for a border wall.
Economic experts said the Valley’s economy could take a hit if the tax is enacted.
No word if the president has seen the open letter or if he intends to take the congressman up on his offer.
