$1.5M Heroin Bust at Progreso Port of Entry

PROGRESO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Progreso Port of Entry stopped more than $1.5 million of heroin from crossing into the U.S.

A 41-year-old Mexican man and a 42-year-old woman from Weslaco were referred to secondary inspection on Sunday.

CBP officers subsequently found 46 packages of heroin hidden inside the SUV.

The drug load weighed nearly 70 pounds.

The man and woman were arrested and placed in Homeland Security custody.
