15 People in US Illegally, Drugs Found Inside Alamo Trailer
ALAMO – Local, state and federal law enforcement agencies say human smuggling cases are on the rise in the Rio Grande Valley.
On Thursday, authorities discovered 15 people in the country illegally inside a trailer on the 800 block of South Tower Road in Alamo. Drugs were also found inside the residence.
Officer Juan Meza with the Alamo Police Department says the people in custody could be part of a larger criminal activity.
The investigation is ongoing.
U.S. Border Patrol says so far this year, they’ve apprehended more than 1,000 people who crossed the border illegally.
