BROWNSVILLE – One of the two accused human smugglers who appeared in federal court in Brownsville will stay behind bars. 

Last week, Department of Public Safety troopers found 86 people in the U.S. illegally inside the semi-trailer they were driving.

According to a criminal complaint, Jorge Alfredo Rodriguez was driving the trailer and Danay Rego-Plasencia was driving behind it. 

The federal judge deemed Rodriguez a danger to the community and denied him bond.
