NEAR LINN-SAN MANUEL – A school trip to Sal Del Rey took a turn for the worse when several students were transported to the hospital.

Linn-San Manuel fire officials said on Thursday, they responded to a call of IDEA North Mission students suffering from severe blistering to their feet.

Three minors were transported to the hospital, one of them being treated in intensive care as a precaution.

All other students were checked out by paramedics.

The school district sent us the following statement, which reads in part:

At IDEA Public Schools, the safety of our students is a top priority. On Thursday afternoon, we were notified of an incident on a field trip. While visiting La Sal del Rey, three students suffered minor blisters on their feet.

Our staff took immediate action  to assess the situation and notify medical personnel. One student was transported to urgent care as a precautionary measure. We’ve been in contact with parents and students are doing as well as can be expected.
