AI system to help boost security efforts at Donna ISD
Donna ISD will soon use AI technology to upgrade security on campuses.
The AI-system Gun Detect will be active at all district campuses next week, the district said.
The system will tap in to the district security cameras and alert authorities if they detect possible weapons on school grounds.
“What they pretty much do is tap into our current surveillance cameras and its just 24/7 monitoring,” Donna ISD Police Chief Domingo Aguirre said. “If anything, it turns and sends it to us and all of this is happening live so it’s a proactive approach."
The district received a $58,000 grant to purchase the system.
