JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas State coach Blake Anderson has added assistants Keith Heckendorf, Sean Coughlin and Malcolm Kelly to his staff.

The school made the announcement Wednesday.

Heckendorf will be the offensive coordinator and take the playcalling duties from Anderson. Anderson is trying to reduce his workload as his wife, Wendy, continues her fight against breast cancer.

Heckendorf spent the last eight seasons in multiple roles at North Carolina, including the last five as quarterbacks coach. Among his pupils was Mitch Trubisky, the No. 2 pick in the 2017 draft.

Coughlin will be the run game coordinator. He spent the past 13 seasons as an assistant at Missouri State. Kelly will be the outside wide receivers coach. The two-time All-Big 12 wide receiver at Oklahoma spent the last two seasons at Houston as an offensive graduate assistant coach and offensive analyst.

The new hires replace tight ends coach Buster Faulkner, offensive line coach Allen Rudolph and receivers coach Chris Buckner.

The Red Wolves went 8-5 this season and lost to Nevada in the Arizona Bowl.
