WESLACO – The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department is reaching out to the community on tracking down the suspects of an attempted robbery at a Dollar General.

It happened near the Dollar General on north FM 88 in Weslaco.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with a man who witnessed the attempted robbery.

“As I am pulling into the turning lane to pull into the parking lot of Dollar General I did see the gentlemen try to open up a door knocking on the window with the gun,” he says.

He says there were two individuals inside the car, one had a greenish brown hoodie and the other had a white shirt; a mask was also used.

The Dollar General manager tells us the cashier working that night also noticed the activity, but wasn’t able to provide more information.
