SOUTH PADRE ISLAND - There have been holiday events in almost every city in the Rio Grande Valley.

At South Padre Island, not only have they had their annual parade, but they've added something new called "sand-ta" castles.

The parade always lights up the island; it's become a tradition and always draws a crowd.

Not far away is the new sand-ta castles, sculpted out of sand with a Christmas theme, located next to the Louie’s Backyard restaurant.

The exhibit is free and opens at 12 p.m.; it's scheduled to be open through Jan. 13.

Between the parade and the sand-ta castles, it's the holidays at South Padre Island.
