SAN BENITO – A damaged utility pole in San Benito has nearby residents concerned.

The search has begun to find the owner of the utility pole.

One resident tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS that it’s a hazard because it could fall on somebody.

KRGV’s Trason Bragg contacted AEP Texas to find out if the pole was their responsibility.

A spokesperson from AEP sent this statement.

"This isn't one of our poles, but after we assessed the situation, we made the decision to secure the pole for the sake of public safety and to keep the area safe."
