DONNA – A Donna grain trader is concerned about the potential effect of the new tariff placed on American soybeans.

Last week, the People’s Republic of China placed a 25 percent tariff on soybeans imported from the U.S.

"Trade wars don't benefit anyone. Maybe the outcome will, but in the meantime there's going to be a lot of pain," says Octavio Garcia, a local grain trader.

Garcia believes the trade war with China will have a significant impact on the agricultural community in South Texas.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey spoke with experts in Washington about what can be done to address the issue.
