SAN ANTONIO - Valley football playoff teams saved the best for last Saturday in third round tournament action. Mission Veterans Memorial (12-1) defeated previously unbeaten Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial 62-55 in the final game of a Valley triple-header at San Antonio's Alamodome to earn a 5A-Division 1 regional final appearance against Wagner in week four of the post-season. Mission Veterans has now won 12 straight games after a season opening loss. The win completed a roller coaster ride for local fans that made the trip to San Antonio, Hanna (10-2) couldn't hold on to a 19-point lead in the 3rd quarter, and fell against Brandeis 33-32. The second game saw Lake Travis thump Weslaco (11-2) 56-14. In a 4A playoff game, La Feria (11-2) could never get started in Corpus Christi against La Vernia and lost 41-13.
