MCALLEN – A former Hidalgo County judge convicted of taking bribes is requesting a new trial.

Rodolfo “Rudy” Delgado’s legal team is formally requesting a new trial to be acquitted of the judgement issued earlier this month.

A jury found Delgado guilty on all counts, including bribery.

His attorney calls the evidence used against the former judge “speculative at its core”.

No word when the judge will make a decision.
