UPDATE (4/29): The Uptown Gym in McAllen is still closed and customers say they're still being charged.

The gym closed its doors for the second time this year.

Management previously told us members who paid in full for the year would be reimbursed.

We reached out multiple times to find out why the gym is still taking money from members; we have yet to receive a response.

MCALLEN – A McAllen gym was closed all week and customers say they weren’t given any explanations as to why.

The Gym at Uptown customer Patricia Montemayor says this isn’t the first time this happens.

Montemayor says the gym first shutdown in January and new management made everyone re-sign contracts.

"I did a contract for one year, I want to know if I’m going to cancel it or cancel the account at the bank because for me it automatically takes it from my bank," she says.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke to other customers who said they already paid over $400 upfront for the year.

Gym owner Mario Lemus says, via text, that all automatic bank charges for the gym were stopped.

He adds those who have memberships paid in-full will have their money refunded on a prorated basis.
