HARLINGEN – Residents stormed out of a packed town hall meeting about the Harlingen’s drainage system.

Harlingen residents squeezed into a school cafeteria looking for answers and voicing their concerns.

"We all have water in our homes we don't want it to happen again. I know you can't take the water out of my home I know you can't not make it last longer, but can you at least make it so it doesn't happen again," said one resident.

As tempers started rise and the crowd started speaking over each other to make their points made, Mayor Chris Boswell interrupted to level with them.

"There’s really nothing we can say that's going to make it right or make you feel better. What we are trying to do is communicate as much information as we can," says Boswell.

At the meeting, city officials showed highlighted areas that were impacted and where they want to make improvements; those improvements totaling about $730,000.

City Manager Daniel Serna broke down the different grants and funds the city hopes to secure for need improvements as well.
