RIO HONDO – A Rio Grande Valley property owner was arrested last week for neglecting his property for years.

William Templeton, the owner of the property located at the corner of FM 803 and FM 106, went before a Harris County judge.

Six years ago, a fire broke out fueled by hundreds of paint cans. He was cited multiple times by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for not clearing the hazardous materials left behind.

A spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General says during the contempt hearing, Templeton agreed to work with the state to finally clean up his property.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez has the details.
