McAllen Robbery Suspect Hopes for Light Sentence, Asylum
MCALLEN – The lawyer of a man who partook in a chaotic scene at La Plaza Mall weeks ago wants all the facts in the case.
One of the seven men involved in the attempted robbery at a jewelry store claims he was forced to do it.
Miguel Quintanilla told his lawyer, Sergio Sanchez, several men forced him to work less than a week after coming to the U.S. illegally.
Sanchez says these cases are not uncommon. He says he hopes authorities get all the facts before making a decision.
For now, the 26-year-old faces the possibility of spending life in prison for aggravated robbery.
