McAllen and Other Agencies Hope to Receive Humanitarian Reimbursement

MCALLEN – Four Rio Grande Valley organizations and one city wait to be paid back for expenses in caring for thousands of immigrants since January.

It’s called the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

Twenty-five million dollars will be allocated to all southern border states.

Five Hidalgo County agencies that assisted with immigration applied, now they wait.

Catholic Charities is one of five agencies in Hidalgo County that applied to the Emergency Food and Shelter Program, along with the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley and the city of McAllen.
