McAllen city leaders discussing proposed $652 million budget
The city of McAllen is holding several workshops to discuss the proposed $652 million budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
As part of the proposed budget, $253 million would go toward several infrastructure projects, according to a news release.
According to the proposal, $75 million would be allocated toward public safety. The city is also proposing a one cent decrease in their property tax rate.
McAllen City Manager Roy Rodriguez says it's important for people to sit in the workshops to understand the city's needs, and where the money is going.
The next budget workshop is set for Thursday, Aug. 14, at 4 p.m. at the Champion Lakes Golf Course, located at 2701 S. Ware Rd.
The remaining workshops will be held at that same location and time on the following days:
- Tuesday, August 20
- Wednesday, August 21
- Tuesday, August 27.
The workshops are open to the public.
