WESLACO – The mother of a Pulse Nightclub shooting victim says she plans to move forward despite Friday’s verdict in the case against the shooter’s widow.

Noor Salman was found not guilty of charges of obstruction and providing material support to a terrorist organization.

Rio Grande Valley native Frank Escalante was among the 49 killed in the 2016 attack.

Esmeralda Leal, Escalante’s mother, says the court ruling was the closing chapter of the tragedy. She says it also brought back many emotions.

Leal says she remembers her son as a happy, always on the go, loving person.

Hernandez was shot eight times when Omar Mateen opened fire on the crows.

Leal says although two years have passed, she prays every day for peace. She says she doesn’t feel angry and hopes she never will.

The mother tells us she finds comfort in knowing her son lived a full life.
