WESLACO – A family from Nicaragua says their loved one went missing after he crossed the border illegally.

The family of Axel Domingo Talavera Munoz says the 25-year-old crossed illegally into the U.S. two months ago.

“They say they left him because he was sick,” says a family member. “And they left him with just a bottle of water.”

KRGV’s Christian Von Preysing reached out to Border Patrol to ask about his case.  

The agency encourages family members to call 1-866-277-2935 if their loved ones find themselves in danger. They can also contact their country’s consulate for additional resources.

The family says Munoz is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds. He was wearing black shorts, a grey t-shirt and military boots.
