Officials Say Use Caution in Emergency Situations

HARLINGEN – Several good Samaritans helped two girls who were trapped under a vehicle after it crashed into a Harlingen store.

Emergency response experts say adrenaline usually kicks in during unexpected emergency situations.

The director of transportation at South Texas Emergency Care Foundation, Rene Perez, says people must think before springing into action.

"A lot of the time we see injuries that occur because people react too quickly and they have a tendency to just jerk them out of dangers way. And, unfortunately, sometimes those injuries may cause more injuries to the spine, neck to the person themselves,” he says. 

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with Perez to learn about some basic life-saving skills people need to know.
