HARLINGEN – An abandoned Harlingen house at the center of hundreds of police calls is now a pile of rubble and debris.

Harlingen city officials announced Thursday that’s the fate of 22 other deserted houses and buildings in the city.

Police told CHANNEL 5 NEWS they were sick of responding to drug, prostitution and gang violence calls at a house on Monroe Avenue.

People living nearby say they worry about the dangers dilapidated homes pose to children.

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel has more on the project paid for by using money seized from drug forfeitures.
