ALAMO – The city of Alamo obtained approval for the construction of a sidewalk along Tower Road.

Resident Richard Lutes told CHANNEL 5 NEWS he was having issues getting around the city. Due to a disability, his major mode of transportation has been his motorized chair.

Lute said the lack of sidewalks has made his daily commute extremely difficult and dangerous for years.

Alamo city manager Luciano Ozuna Jr. said a group of engineers began working on plans for new sidewalks along Tower Road.

Ozuna said the plans were delayed because the city needed to receive approval from the railroad company before beginning work.

The work has since been approved. Ozuna said the next step is to hire a concrete company.

“If we could do this and obtain the quite by next week, early part of next week, they could probably do the job by the end of the week next week,” he said.

Ozuna said plans are also in the works to construct a sidewalk on Tower Road further south of Business 83.
